Ironman Part 4, Reflections and Lessons Learned

In this, the fourth and final installment of our interview with Joe "Ironman" Siler we ask him to reflect on his experiences using cannabis oil to treat his Basal Cell Carcinomas.

Christians Against Prohibition: Did you ever feel like you were getting high because you applied it to your skin?
Joe: No, absolutely not. Applied topically there is no chance of getting "high." Perhaps if you smeared it over your entire body you might, but it would hardly be worth the mess.

CAP: Did the doctors or nurses ever ask you any questions about it, showing — what I would suppose — is a scientific interest? For example, how you made it, how often you applied it, etc… or did they just seem partially interested? Dismissive? Refer to it as a "home remedy," or another reaction?

Joe: I'd say that fear tempered their interest in what I was doing. None simply dismissed what I was doing, many were interested, but afraid to be too interested. The fed, you know.

CAP: What are your thoughts at this point? Would you do something differently? What?
Joe: No. I would have loved to be able to do this under the direct supervision of a doctor, but that's not going to happen in Texas.

CAP: Well, we can only hope it's sooner rather than later. Did you tell your family or close acquaintances? Did they scorn you? Were they supportive? How did they react?
Joe: I tell everybody about what I have done. No one has ever stated disapproval of my use of Marijuana Oil to treat my cancers. In fact all have expressed approval of the treatment, and inquired about how to make the oil, and where to obtain the cannabis to make it. I can answer the first question, but not the second.

CAP: It sounds like you would recommend this to others. Have you? Heard any feedback from them?
Joe: I cannot actually recommend the treatment. I can only tell them of my success, and any decision they make to try it is their decision to make.

CAP: You replied earlier you believe the federal government is hiding this knowledge, why do you think that is?
Joe: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Don't you think that if I, a lowly high school dropout, is aware of this, the federal government is not? Of course they know about it.

$209.9 BILLION is spent every year in the U.S. alone to treat cancer. The drugs used in this treatment are supplied by big pharmaceutical companies. Lobbyists like to spread this money around in Washington D.C., do you think the politicians want that to stop? If the govt. wasn't aware of the curative properties of marijuana why then did they acquire two patents on the compounds in the plant for medical reasons?

CAP: What do you think can be done to bring this information and medicine to the light of day?
Joe: There are many MMJ [medical marijuana] reform organizations trying to get the word out. [Editor's note: see the side bar on every page "Explore More."] The biggest problem is that the mainstream media will not put the truth on the air. Why not, you ask? Well it just may have something to do with the feds control of their licenses through the FCC. [Federal Communications Commission]

CAP: You also mentioned, in private via email, that you were going to be a part of a video, care to share more details with us? :-)
Joe: Well, about all I can tell you at this time is that if it all comes to pass, it will be on WFAA-TV.

CAP: Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to interview you via email and thanks for opening up and sharing so much. Like you, I too am hopeful we can end this awful prohibition, the unsustainable costs, and merciless behavior it's burdening us with. Thanks again for your time.
