Comparison: Prohibitionists are to the Devil What Abolitionists are to God

Below are comparisons showing some similarities and differences between a few well known groups and entities.

Prohibitionists

  • Prohibitionists force their wills, their likes, and dislikes on others.
  • More than just trying to convince others with words, they take the law into their own hands, and use human power to force their wills on others.
  • Prohibitionists' work moves things from the light in to the dark.
  • Prohibitionists hit and slap with their hands, kick with their feet, shoot with guns, and wantonly kill.

The Devil

  • The Devil uses the Prohibitionists as servants.
  • The Devil, like the Prohibitionists, spends time leading people in to temptation by telling them what they can’t do.
  • The Devil, like the Prohibitionists, uses lies, propaganda, and misinformation to deceive trick others.
  • The Devil, like the Prohibitionists, hides useful information, blocks access to it, pretends it doesn't exist, and prevents it from being researched.
  • The Devil, like the Prohibitionists, creates and spreads shame.

Abolitionists

  • Abolitionists want to reduce harm.
  • Abolitionists want to bring healing.
  • Abolitionists seek to take away shame.
  • Abolitionists ask and receive, seek and find.
  • Abolitionists work to learn more and share that knowledge freely.
  • Abolitionists work to bring things from the dark in to the light.
  • Abolitionists hold out their hands as an invitation to help.

God

  • God uses the Abolitionists as servants.
  • God wants to heal everyone of their ills.
  • God gave us all plants—to pick and choose from—for food and medicine. Genesis 1:11-12, 29-30
  • God gave us free-will and told us to exercise it wisely. Genesis 4:7
  • God told Paul that in later times some would abandon the faith, deceived by hypocritical liars, and deny access to foods created for all living creatures and especially believers. 1 TImothy 4:1-6

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father, please help us endure the trials we face as we work to battle the horn(s) on the beast that crushes and devours its victims, and tramples whatever is left. [Daniel 7:7-8, 19-28] Please help us save others from those whose consciences have been seared, as with a hot iron. Please help us strengthen people who over-indulge—in anything—and not beat them with shame, or worse. Please help us convince those on the fence that what you have created, and cleansed, is good and not to be rejected. Please help us use our free-will in ways that are pleasing to you. Please help us be the head and not the tail.

Amen.
