We Can't Control the Two Legal Drugs We Already Have

Social Objection to Ending Prohibition

“We can't control the two legal drugs we already have.”

The above objection to ending prohibition is founded on these mistaken notions:

  • The mistaken notion that prohibition puts control in the hands of the government. It doesn’t! Prohibition puts control in the hands of the black market!
  • The mistaken notion there are only two legal drugs. There is definitely more than just “alcohol” and “tobacco” available to society; there are hundreds, if not thousands, of legal drugs. Go to nearly any store and you will find myriad products labeled as drugs, including aspirin, stomach soothers, soar-throat spray, anti-itch ointments, allergy symptom suppressors, and even fiber for regularity. All of those can be misused yet we allow people to self-administer and self-medicate with them. Also in this category are items not labeled with the traditional Drug Warning label, such as coffee, which contains the drug caffeine.
  • The mistaken notion the government must control everything. What is better? The government as master and tyrant, or educated citizens who share with each other the truth as to when and why taking anything is advantageous, disadvantageous, or not effective. At an age-appropriate time and in a timely manner, devoid of hysteria and hype.
  • The mistaken notion we can control every one who has access to the aforementioned drugs.

Education should come before or with plants, not jail-time.
