Some people have the mistaken belief that Drug Prohibition is God's will. Sorry to say but I've heard some preachers on TV make statements to that effect.
Well, let's do some homework here and see how the Drug War stacks up against the 10 Commandments.
Elijah tested the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. [1 Kings 18:15-39] But let's do an even simpler test. Is this Drug War from God? Or is this Drug War from these others: the False Prophets of Prohibition, the Men (and Women) of Lawlessness, the Holier-Than-Thou-Congregation, the High Priests of Assigning Permanent Shame, the Thug Addicts, In-the-Closet Hypocrites, and The Deceived?
Here they are, the 10 Commandments in abbreviated form, from Exodus 20:1-17.
- There is only one God, worship no other gods.
- Do not make or worship idols.
- Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God.
- Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, rest, and do not work during it.
- Honor your father and your mother.
- Do not murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not give false testimony against another.
- Do not covet another's property or wife.
Let's analyze them in detail now.
There is only one God, worship no other gods.
Do not make or worship idols.
Do not commit adultery.
Well, as we've seen in the writings of Reverend John Clifton Marquis, S.T., drug prohibition laws are idols. People claim they hold salvation, a salvation they have not and can not deliver.
Prohibitionists do not let God be God, they sit on the throne of their hearts, and force themselves to be the law-giver over humanity too, acting as though they were a god.
The Drug War is adultery. Instead of being true to God, God's creation, and the New Covenant with the Messiah, the Drug War is beholden to exalting human power over other humans. It is a licentious relationship between humans who stuff money in each others' pockets at the expense of everyone else. It does not cause people to love their neighbors as they love themselves, it pits neighbor against neighbor and against God.
Honor your father and your mother.
Do the prohibitionists honor God? No. They curse God for making various plants. Do they honor God by following Jesus' teachings? No. They are brutal or deadly in their treatment of those they accuse. There is a passage where Jesus rails against the religious leaders who care more about tradition than this commandment. [Matthew 15:1-20] Drug Prohibition laws are recent human traditions; they are not honoring God, the Father.
Do not murder.
This commandment is routinely broken. Pets are killed. Humans are killed. Helpful plants are killed. How many people have died in Mexico as a result of prohibition? How many people in Colombia? Afghanistan? How many people in the U.S. cheer on the death penalty in foreign lands for drug users? Too many! (Be sure to read Matthew 15:1-20 for more on this.)
Do not steal.
Do not covet another's property or wife.
(Un)civil asset forfeiture. Modern-day highway robbery. And this violates our own non-religious Founding Documents by assuming guilt and making the property owner prove innocence.
Let alone the fact that billions of plants have been stolen due to idol worship. (See first violation above.)
Do not give false testimony against another.
There is a name for this "testalying." An unholy merger of opposites: testifying, and lying. Why would someone do this? They are pressured to do so from the Drug Warriors. Actually, some are Drug Warriors themselves. But some people are paid lots of money to bear false witness. Some of them are trying to reduce the number of years they will sit in prison, so they'll say anything about anyone.
Another example of lying comes from those who offer plea bargains. Prosecutors make such enormous and overwhelming accusations and threats of punishment that intimidated defendants lie on the stand. Prosecutors provide defendants with lists of what to lie about, yes, after they are made to put their hands on Bibles and swear they're telling the truth.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, rest, and do not work during it.
This commandment is probably broken every week by undercover Drug Warriors. In order to maintain their deception they can't stop hiding the fact they are working undercover. I don't doubt they relax, drink beer, smoke marijuana, or do whatever drugs they are "required" to do in order to maintain their farce.
Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God.
As part of the deceit of undercover Drug Warriors, they probably have to show disrespect for cops, the law, others in authority, and there is little doubt in my mind they also routinely break this commandment.
The verdict is in! The Drug War and Drug Prohibition is in direct opposition to all of the 10 Commandments!
It also concerns me to hear some of the preachers on TV say things like "we're a nation of laws" and go on to praise the idols of drug prohibition, and cheer on the Men (and Women) of Lawlessness; Drug Prohibition creates a lawless state! They are evil liars, hm, let's use the proper jargon here, they are False Prophets of Prohibition when they claim that drugs cause a person to be unclean. It seems they haven't read the passage above: Matthew 15:1-20. Here's a quote from it I call, Garbage Out is Sin, Not the Garbage In.
