Posing that question to Prohibitionists is good, but if you are talking in general with a person I would suggest abstracting the “you” from the question to focus the question on the ‘help’ aspect, and remove a potentially defensive stance. Also ignore the fact the sentence begins singular but ends plural; this step is necessary to render it gender-neutral.
