Making Money? No — Consuming Money, Printing Money, Destroying Value, and Indebting Future Generations
Dear Drug Policy Reformers,
Healing the Sick

We are Legalizers.
Without legalization there is no hope.
— Legalizing Doesn’t Mean Proselytizing —
Legalization Can Instantly Reduce:
Deaths, Disease, Crime, Corruption, & Addiction
Like Harm Reduction?
Legalization is the Good, Better and Best option to do so.
Please don’t make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Dear Drug Policy Reformers,
Dear Drug Policy Reformers,
I have a request. Please stop using terms like “liberalize,” “loosen,” and “relax” with regard to fixing our drug laws.
This document lists dozens and dozens, if not hundreds and hundreds, of conditions, with links to hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands, of studies.
From the (2012) opening page:
Well, here I am again, staring at this blank screen, trying to figure out what to say so you will share the information I have gathered. “Once the medical facts about cannabis become known, the need for legalization becomes obvious!” How many times have I said that? I need YOU to educate those around you. I can’t do it alone!
At times, it seems so futile — this never-ending battle against ignorance about cannabis. But I can’t give up - this simple herb has some amazing uses and people need to know what it can do.
Cannabis should be treated like any other medicinal herb, because that’s what it is, […]
As Americans, we should be free to exercise our right to choose the type of medicines that we take. Anyone exhibiting the first signs of Alzheimer’s should be able to choose between Aricept, Marinol, or natural cannabis to slow the deposit of mind-clogging amyloid plaque.
“When tested at double the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.” (Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer’s - WebMD, 2006 see more)
Marinol is just a capsule of a pure synthetic THC dissolved in sesame oil. It will work, but some people find that it causes anxiety because it lacks CBD (cannabidiol) to balance the THC high.
Natural cannabis has CBD and other cannabinoids in it, which act in a different way to slow the progress of Alzheimer’s. (“Cannabidiol and other cannabinoids reduce microglial activation in vitro and in vivo: relevance to Alzheimer’s disease” - Molecular Pharmacology, 2011 search) I know which I would logically choose, but in 2/3s of the US, and everywhere by federal law, that choice is forbidden to us. Our government has banned our best choice!
In case you thought Drug Prohibition was a time-honored tradition which should go on in perpetuity you should probably see an overview of how long it’s been a “tradition.”

Right now, street thugs and international cartels have the power.
Does that really make us safer?
[The fourth beast] had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
[…] I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws — the beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head […]
The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
“What sense does it make to have prescription Tylenol but legal heroin?!”
One of the co-founders of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) gives yet another great presentation; this time at a conference on Mass Incarceration and Reentry
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
As with wars throughout history, the negative consequences of the drug war fall heaviest on the most vulnerable, excluded and marginalised.
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. […] I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, […] When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. […] I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you […] in prison, and did not help you?’
He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
Here is an editorial I first published in January 18, 2010. In order to push it back out through the RSS feed I’m changing the publication date.
