Submitted by Thinking CAP on Mon, Jun 29, 2009 - 2:51 pm

Over at the Windsor Star, a Canadian newspaper, James C. Morton a lawyer, takes a look at the prison system as it is now, and provides a bit of history about prisons and how societies have viewed prisons over time.

Here are some select quotes

Using them [prisons] to reduce drug crimes seems especially wrong-headed. Prisoners often become addicted to narcotics while in prison. That sounds preposterous, but it's true. The place we send society's most dangerous elements for rehabilitation is full of illegal drugs.

As one would expect from a monopoly, there is plenty of rhetoric from them about why they should be the only ones in control of production, analyses, scientific and medical studies. Except unlike corporate monopolists which have seemingly taken over the country and world, these folks are puny, only supplying a small handful of patients with marijuana. Last I heard it was much under 20, more like under 10 people, in the whole U.S.

God gave us plants to eat, herbs, and fruit trees. God saw that it was good. — Genesis 1:11-12, 29-30

Paul prophecies that in the later times some will abandon God’s love. Hypocritical liars will deceive them and forbid others from partaking in foods God created, to be enjoyed by those who know The Truth.

Everything God made is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is sanctified through God’s word and prayer.

Be a good minister and point this out to fellow believers. — 1 Timothy 4:1-6
